they have a huge bin of them for 99 cents/lb. at the international grocer here. i never pass up the opportunity to try exotic fruits/veggies, regardless of any bad reputation it might have, so i bought one. several people i knew warned me about it, saying i would have to open my windows, etcetc. it did have a small opening in it, and the when i put my nose to it, it smelled of delicious tropical fruit. i'd read, though, that the smell derives from oxidation, i.e. exosure of its unique chemical composition to air, so i was prepared for the smell to be different when i fully opened it. and it was
