Text books - even used - are ridiculously expensive!  Even if you buy them used from other students instead of the book store.  And the of course the school decideds to buy the new editions so there are no used books...
It should not cost so much to go to school

I used to gripe about that. Then I talked to a math student at UC Berkeley, who had to shell out $900 for a used math book, that he used for two classes.

I hear you. And unfortunately the new editions often aren't that different. But I generally let my students use an older edition if I know it's similar. Check with your profs.
