It gets to 1/4 left of the battery, tells me that the battery is low, then shuts off! I have an entire quarter left, why can't I listen to it?!

Hrmm, if you have an Apple Store, or an Apple Service Center/Apple Reseller near you, you should bring it to them. Sounds like you have a poo poo battery.

Did you charge it all the way up and let it completely die before doing anything else when you first got it...if not then it sorta calibrates the battery wrong so when it says it has 1/2 or 1/4 left it's really empty which can really be a pain in the asssss!!
