When is and isn't it appropriate for threads to be frozen within a post? What is considered acceptable versus unacceptable for what goes on within a post? If someone were to freeze a thread and were not justified in it, what/who/or how should a complaint be made? I would like to know for future reference, thanks!

frozen threads, member submitted posts, community guidelines

If you have a complaint, posting it here is a good place. That goes regardless of whether an OP or a moderator freezes a thread.

Did anything happen recently that was frozen? Usually, it's not good practice for an OP to do it unless there is really good reason (it is unfair information control), and if there is, they should probably have told the moderators about it.

I had a thread frozen by an OP and they kept asking me to stop replying to people who were replying to me, but I was just answering their questions. I have never experienced someone who controlled their posts that way, so I was pretty surprised it even happened. It happened here and I cannot reply to anyone in that thread at all, basically. Sometimes discussions go somewhat off topic but you shouldn't necessarily need to make a new topic for it.

I've seen similar things happen elsewhere. Rarely in vp, though. Could be for any of a number of reasons.

Anyway, I've unfrozen the thread for now. I'm all about information control*.

* In this case, 'control' being the enforcement of open and less restricted communication =)

Thank you so much! I appreciate it as I really enjoy talking to people about these things :)
