Who: Akito, Emmeline What: Meeting and sorting out their differences Where: small park near the Sohma house When: After their conversation in Emmy's journal Rating: unpredictable! (unlikely to be that high.)
Emmeline had reached the park a bit earlier than she had intended, which meant she got to find a suitable place to station herself, in order to see Akito before she was herself perceived. Usually she wouldn't bother with such measures, but the other young woman seemed more hostile than was even reasonable, so she wasn't going to take any chances.
This park was familiar to her. It was the one where she had first met Shigure face to face - and learned of the curse, although that had been quite by accident. The memory made her smile a little, even though it was bittersweet. He had been kind to her, then and after, helping her whenever she needed it. He was like... what she had used to think an older brother should be.
Upon spotting the other, she toyed momentarily with making Akito wait for her. But it suddenly seemed a cruel thought - the young woman looked defenseless, as if being out in the open was to be entirely out of her element. Sighing, Emmeline moved to join her.
Akito started at the other woman's sudden appearence, her expression turning into a frown. "You're late", she said, giving a rebuke out of instinct. She felt awkward suddenly, meeting Emmeline face to face, almost as if they were on the same ground. Which they were not of course; Akito knew that her own role and birthright put her in a much higher position than Emmeline's claim at aristocracy could put her.
"You came, then." Not that she had doubted that Emmeline would, the woman had seemed willing enough. It was the words they would exchange now that Akito did not trust. Even without knowing this woman she knew what to expect; lies, falsity, clever words. She wouldn't be any different from any of the others.
Emmeline thought about it for a moment, decided there was nothing for it - you can't reason with someone who has insisted everything you say is a lie just because you're a woman, no matter how hypocritical that statement may be - and started to laugh. "I'm not late, I was waiting for you. And of course I came. I said I would. No sense in telling someone you'll meet with them and then not showing up."
This young woman was prettier in person. Delicate. And with her personality... Emmeline could see that she had been absolutely right in assuming this to be the young woman Shigure was in love with. They would suite each other so perfectly.
Akito responded with a miffed noise, not having an eloquent comeback. She felt infuriated that Emmeline would dare to laugh at her - and also annoyed at herself that she could not find the words to defend herself with. Standing in the middle of the path like this, she felt at a disadvantage; especially as the other woman was slightly taller than she. And this woman, the one who had called her pretty, was certainly not ugly herself. Akito wondered what had drawn Shigure to her... if he had been drawn to her. Her long dark hair bore more than a little resemblance to-
No, she wouldn't think about that person! Not when Shigure was-
Banishing the thought from her head with a particularly angry glare at her companion, she nodded her head towards a bench that sat not too far from where they were stood. "Let's sit down. I wouldn't want our conversation to tire you."
