Who: Yuki, Hiro What: Getting Hiro out of the basement Where: Sohma house When: After Yuki convinces Hiro to come home with him Rating: G? (what else would it be? o-O;)
The basement wasn't dark. The lights were on. It wasn't as if there was nothing to do; he had his device to talk to people with. But Hiro didn't want to speak to anyone. Everything had gone wrong in the past few days. First, Hitsuji's murder, which he had taken part in; and now Shigure-nii's death.
Lots of people thought that Jade had done it. He didn't understand how they could think that. There was a note...but Jade would never hurt anyone...probably. He'd been nice, nicer than anyone else in this world, and now everyone said he was a murderer.
Death was everywhere. Maybe if he died, he'd go back home. Maybe the only way to get home was to die. Maybe that's where Shigure-nii had gone--home. Mom was there, and Rin, and Dad, and Hinata.
"Hiro-kun?" he called quietly down the stairs as he went, hoping the boy would answer and save him the trouble of having to look for him too long down there. He was restrained - he'd said that. It would take a little time to get him untied. Sometimes Yuki wondered a bit about Shigure's mental health.
Yuki didn't like the idea of staying here longer than necessary. Just because he was on particularly good terms with Akito at the moment didn't mean he felt safe here. Even in this place, the threat of entrapment was always hanging over his head when he was around Akito. And no matter how merciful the other was currently being, he had no illusions as to what would happen to him when Akito's mercy ran out.
Yuki-nii was calling, but Hiro didn't want to answer. If he answered, he'd have to leave and go out into the world again. He didn't want to go out into the world and see people after everything that had happened. Speaking to them when he was trapped in a basement was different. Now, though...he didn't want to see them. Not ever again.
But he had said he'd go. He had. Even if he didn't...want to. "H-hai."
Mentally thanking whatever god had decided to look down on him, Yuki went towards the sound of Hiro's voice, finding him quickly enough. He knelt down beside the boy, frowning. Hiro probably didn't want to come with him, but he certainly couldn't stay here. Would it make a difference if he told the boy he wouldn't have to talk to anyone until he was ready, wouldn't have to face them until he felt like he could handle it?
Maybe. Maybe not. He had never been able to read Hiro quite that well.
