Finding stuff is hard!

Dear various computerized search mechanisms,

What happened to wildcards? What happened to me having to ask if I wanted you to find words inside words? It's not that I object, really, to finding "elves" and "elvish" when I ask for "elf", or finding "danced", "dancing", and "dancer" when I ask for "dance" -- I could have misremembered what I was ( Read more... )

Ugh. I totally hear you, especially when it comes to searching through long electronic versions of textbooks. It's like, no really, I want section 3.18. Can't you search for that? I have definitely found myself going back and using tables of contents a lot more.

Yeah, I've been seeing this, too, and I don't even search for things with numbers. The generalizing is getting a bit TOO general.
