Sorry! At least you won't have to wait long to know what happens next: season 10 airs next week, September 25th.
I've been trying to remain spoiler-free about everything, so this is just me guessing, but I'm pretty sure he isn't dead. Both the character and the actor might retire though :( He is 79 years old, after all O_o
oh, see, I didn't kow that. :) I've ot read spoilers either, but I'm not sure, I could see them go both ways. But whether he retires or dies, I'm going to miss Ducky :(
