If one doesn't let things go then one is deemed anally retentive. Focusing on things beyond one's control, especially within one's own life, is such a futile exercise. I totally agree with what you say.

I think it's possible and desirable to completely commit to a goal, while acknowleging the ultimate insignificance of that goal.
