Mess Hall stuffs.

I'm not sure how many people I've mentioned this too, but one of the things that heavily informs my playing of Minagawa is my real-life experience working in a cafe/restaurant, the kitchen of a boarding school, attending a boarding school, girl guide camp and most recently working in my parent's tearooms. I've been taking for granted that people ( Read more... )

This all makes sense to me, but I've got a bit of bias in favor of a pro-kitchen set up too so other people may disagree? I dunno.

Though I am reminded that I wanted to ask the chefs about getting Tohru in as a cleaning assistant for the mess hall. I dunno if they have any yet, but she's the type to want a job, so! I mean, played out IC and all, but I figured I'd check if it was even an option first, y'know?

You keep us from starving to death. Or rather, reliably provide food that has no ill effects. I'd say you guys are pretty popular. ^.^;

I thought there was a mini-kitchen-- microwave, stovetop-- in the hospital too.

Not as far as I'm aware? Given what the Elrics/Ryuuken have said about the hospital, I'm guessing it's quite small and basic, and definitely wouldn't have the facilities to cater for large numbers. There are drink machines, including coffee available in the wait room, and the break room and Ryuuken's office have coffee making facilities, but that's it as far as I know ... although it's been a long time since we had one of the hospital info posts, so I may be wrong.

No, I was thinking it was-- if you've ever spent heavy-duty time in a hospital there's usually a room, like an office kitchen, where you can throw shit together if you get fried. And I thought that was in the break room. I should ask Ryuuken before I make any more soba there lolz.

The Breakroom's a bit iffy because it arrived with Lisa and it's a reflection of her psyche, so while she uses it to heat patient's meals before taking them to them, and other staff members wander in and out as she does, if people are using it I kind of need to know because whether the room exists/is useable depends very much on Lisa's stability at any given point.

Ryuuken and I will touch base and see what we think. There's sometimes a paitent families go here room too, but that's more typical of larger hospitals.

What about the wait room? I've been treating that as the general hanging out area.

Yeah, that makes sense. I've been thinking of it as just off the waiting room-- by the drink machines.

Maybe I should make a drawing. OH GOD IT'S LIKE A DISEASE.

Yes. No matter how small the hospital is, there's always a few non medical areas like a small kitchen, laundry room, labs, archive, etc.

Yeah, if it's a traditional one. I don't know about the evolutions the hospital seems to go through, but when Al first made it he was focused on making a place for the injuries people got a lot at the time. A laundry room and file record area and things like that wouldn't have occurred to him. But like I said -- the hospital kinda evolves? I dunno what kind of rooms have been added and what not.

That sounds a lot like the break room, and due to the connection to Lisa's head-space, I'm not really comfortable ooc-ly with people using it as a general kitchen area. Of course, opening it up more might be a good way of getting her meeting more people ... hmm.

We have the wait-room with the drink machines, snack machines I think, the laundry is in the basement, I'm not sure if we have an archive area yet but it would make sense with Ryuuken and Simon's paperwork, and I have no idea about labs?

I...don't assume that Simon hangs out in Lisa's break room, if that helps? It's because I imagine that that freaks the hell out of River and because Simon uses his breaks to chat with River and tease her and stuff, he probably wouldn't do it there. I've been assuming that there is some sort of room with water and a kettle and random crap in there, but that it's so crap that no-one bar the hospital staff would want to use it.

Labs are a must. Even the most rural and smal hospitals have them because sometimes is really needed. Considering the ammount of blood loss Ikkaku some campers have, it's absolutely necessary to have at a red cell count. There's no lab staff needed since simple tests are covered by basic medical training, but I think that Alphose- being an alchemist- wouldn't have ignored those.

Yeah, he'd have included something like that. Probably a room of the existing network of labs that run beneath camp that he sealed off from it. There's a quarantine room connected to the hospital in a similar way.
