What do you mean, exactly?

Okay, I'm only trying to put this into words here. I may not make sense, exactly.

The superhero is a projection of part of the American myth, that individuals can control their destiny and that the strong should protect the weak. Evil is not a force, it's a weakness. It can't be avenged or punished, it can only be resisted, within your own heart, by an act of will. To fight evil, you have to help evil people resist their own weakness.

I dunno, maybe I'm being a total flake.

No, you're right in the broad sense. The big problem here is that all of these people don't realize that they are being evil when they support Bush. They need to have this fact beaten into them. They need to be shamed and broken so that they can see it and fight it within themselves and others.

They're already shamed and broken, that's what makes them vulnerable. They need to be protected, strengthened, encouraged.

I'm not telling you not to be angry, I'm telling you not to hate people. People of ill will, who wish you harm, deserve hatred, but the American people as an aggregate, even if they are ignorant haters themselves, do not mean you harm. They are scared and are forking over their political power to someone who says he can protect them. It makes sense to them when he says it. This is a fundamental historical process. It's been going on for thousands of years.

This is good, this is the attitude that gives me hope.

Hope is what I need. Give me hope!

You rock...

That's funny, I'm just about the most cynical and jaded person I know. There's no hope, you just have to keep fighting.

The only revolution that means anything is the revolution within the self.

But there's hope that more people will realise that, changing the internal influences the external.

Hope is a dangerous thing to loose, they said so in "Lost" so it's got to be true.
