Personally, I think you should re-evaluate your commitments to school, friends, etc. Maybe breaking apart from school would be good for you, because it seems you're not using this opportunity to your advantage. Not saying that you suck at school, but you seem to place your priorities elsewhere. Getting a job sounds good, or committing more to your band. I think we've talked about this before, and music seems to be where your heart is the most. Maybe that's the direction you need to be heading in.
dan, perhaps you need to look at this in the grand scheme of things. in no way am i against you being in the band or being so committed the band. i think that's wonderful. but also, look at it this way: you are so lucky you've been given the opportunity to go to school and have your parents pay your way through it. if you just blow all that off, you'll be stuck like many people i know are-- struggling to make it in an industry that doesn't allow for a lot of people to truly make it. sure, summer tours would be fun, etc., but aren't andrew and alex going to school next year? and i'm not putting anthony down in any way, the kid is extremely kind-hearted and i admire him a lot, but are you really envious of the fact that he clocks in and out everyday in a job that he is probably struggling to make as much over minimum wage as possible? i just know that there is a world of opportunities out there for you and i don't want to see one of my best friends sell themself short because you like to be sociable or whatever. i love my friends, but i
( ... )
hardcore isnt an industry, its a style of music, people dont "make it" sometimes they get signed to a bigger hardcore label and they make a few bucks but no one gets set off of this stuff. well except for maybe hatebreed and fuck if id ever want to become that joke.
well anthony does make like $8.50, and im not saying i dont need school. or maybe i am i dont know. but im trying to figure out if this is what i need right now. thats why i said a few months off would probably be good.
i love you dan. dont worry about it too much, everything will work out as its supposed to. you wont have a band when you are 60, but VCU will still be there... as long as its not burnt down, nahmean?
i did know one person who took time off of school and went back. her name was peggy and she was about 65 and was in my native american lit class last semester.
