we heard gunshots here for the first time last weekend.  id been watching the wire too, which i think contributed to my strait ptsd reaction; the shots weren't close enough to do us any

I would like to never hear the original, but this is pretty great.
I haven't heard gunshots in a while. I used to hear them fairly frequently when I lived in a different Baltimore neighborhood--one that was fancier than my current neighborhood, but up next to some really rough ones. Around here, there are way more break-ins and property crime, but in the old neighborhood, there were a lot more muggings and assaults.
Point being, gun shots are unsettling, and Baltimore is just exactly like the Wire. (I've never actually seen that show, though I used to see them filming it when I first moved here.)
