The choppy edges and white outline around the figures gives the impression that it's just a badly filtered photo, cut off the original background. 1. The cut-out look is an eyesore in this case. (I say in this case, because I've seen it used well in other artworks.) It takes away from the image. 2. It raises my suspicions about the originality of the piece, and whether or not it really is a badly filtered photo.

Well, it was just a question this anonymous poster expressed.
And it's not specified in the community user info what sort of media should be used in the art. Or what is defined as art, and what should only be considered a bad photo manip.
I'm not taking sides or expressing an opinion here, so don't sue me :D.
