I love this poem! It's so simple and short, but says so much about the relationship between the two people. The letter writer is very familiar with the recipient, and seems to have what used to be a close relationship with them. But things have obviously changed by the time this was written. The writer not only ate the recipient's plums, but took the time to tell the recipient that he/she knew the plums were probably being saved, but they don't care. By using such a sarcastic anti-apology, they are really being so artfully cruel. This poem is just so delicious.
