bleh.
the first time kirk ignores his allergies, mccoy promises to never visit him again.
the second time, he's gotten shot, so mccoy makes an exception.
the third time, it's the allergy thing again, but really it's not THAT big of a deal i mean mccoy's already in the medbay all the time anyway.
the fourth time spock is there too, so they just have a staring contest until kirk wakes up and tries to get up. he's broken a few ribs, but he's done that a lot before, and he says he's fine but he's definitely not so it's the fourth time mccoy is there but it's the first time spock is and also the first time spock and mccoy agree on something.
the fifth time kirk asks him if he's counting, and mccoy says he isn't but he's got a little girl waiting for an update on how her favorite father's best friend is doing after being knocked out in an explosion for a day.
the sixth time is another allergy incident, and bones tried really hard to resist going because he swore he wouldn't, he honestly did, but it's killing him that the hobgoblin is there and concerned when he shouldn't be. so he just goes to shoo off spock, and it's not his fault that he ends up playing a game or two of poker with kirk.
the seventh time is the time he stops counting, and the time when he thinks that kirk might die. it's been three days and the tissue regen chamber didn't do much more than lessen the obvious pain kirk was in. even spock couldn't piss him off. but kirk has a paradoxical ability to get himself both in and out of trouble, and while it's three days he's asleep it's only three hours after he wakes up that he's trying to walk around. so it's the seventh time but it's the first time that bones admits how much he cares whether kirk lives or dies. it's measured in the empty whiskey bottles and the uncomfortable nights spent sleeping in those damn medbay chairs. and also the fact that he didn't even have the energy to get spock out of there when the hobgoblin should have been getting some rest.
