Apologies and Proposed Hiatus

Feb 16, 2010 02:10

Hey, everyone. Just an update from your currently quiet modlings.

As you know, we planned to update the game during January. Work has progressed on the update, with all of the new forms (events, concepts, companion characters) done and a good chunk of the new text and info waded through. Unfortunately it was the case - with both mods - that life ( Read more... )

Ah! W-well, I just joined so... I'd say no.... xD
However, if it's absolutely necessary and you know what you're doing, and if it's best for you all, I'd give you the go ahead. ^^

Yeah, we only just discussed this a few hours ago, so I'm really sorry about this! We could really use the time both for updates and for plotting, you see. We want to leave it up to the members as to which is a better option rather than just going ahead and doing it, though - and it could be the case that while we'd be officially hiatused, some people would backlog and/or plot.

However... if, in the end, we do go on hiatus, you will absolutely be roped into the plotting meme and events ideas, so when it's back up again there will be stuff to do and be done! Just 'cause you're new doesn't mean you can hide! XD

If you want to know more about the updates, there's some info over here.

I just read through the updates page, and it all sounds really fun actually~
I like all of your ideas for the future, though it does kind of disappoint me to have to wait, eheh... But, of course, if you need time, you need time. So I'd say go ahead with the hiatus, but don't keep it too long, and keep true to plotting during the hiatus.

I'd love to be included! :D
And I'll do my best to provide what I can to this RP! (I'm extremely active, since I obviously have no life whatsoever, hurrrr. Not really, LOL, I just manage my time surprisingly well. xDDD)

One question I have is whether or not I should post an intro action post or something... Should I, or should I wait until things are all decided and such?

At this point, it's mostly organising, formatting and cleanup. They sound easy, but they're honestly just as time consuming as the text part!

If you want to make an intro, it's fine if you do. We could call it a backlog, and that way when we shift onto a "we're back and moving again" event he'll have at least someone he knows! I kinda feel like playing Espio or Crona right now, so while I can't jump into it right away (it's nearly 4am where I am) I'd offer up a few tags :3

I'm just afraid that no one will USE the posts or the meme, and then the game will never come off hiatus again... :/

Yeah, that is a bit of a concern... but we will be participating in those posts as well, and are already flinging ideas at each other. As it stands, we have three concepts to go up and two events to prepare, so even if people don't participate in those posts we will have content to work with.

I'm kind of stubborn about this game, since I love it and it is the only game I play in right now. Hiatus is a drastic measure I hadn't wanted to consider, but I won't be letting it go.

Worst case scenario: Kiwi and I are the only ones who play here and make this game our personal playground. :^D

Yeah, now that the only thing left for me to do now is finish fixing my computer, I'll be more active in mod duties and playing and such. And, like Kiwi above, I'm stubborn about this game and view a hiatus as a hiatus, not a closing. Hence why if we go on hiatus, we're going to post up progress reports every week--even if, in my case, something major comes up.

A few of us have been plotting like crazy, but I agree that the game's pretty much standing. I'm fine either way, although it's kind of depressing to see yet another game go on hiatus (maybe I'm under a curse to have this happen so I'll get my homework done?).

If it makes you feel better, Kiwi and I believe that the hiatus will take a month, two at most before we're back up and running. Once I have my computer back up to snuff, I'm knuckling down and finishing my share of the revamp for the game.

So maybe you're right about the homework thing? :D

I too am scared of it going on hiatus and never coming back, but you guys are the ones who'd really know whether that can happen. The idea of weekly progress reports sounds extremely reassuring. And it's good that the comm wouldn't be totally dead even during hiatus, too.

...And I do like timeline shenanigans.

If you mods feel it's genuinely the best way for you to get everything you need taken care of and set things back on track, then I for one am okay with a hiatus. Just make sure to write us often, pack extra underwear, and look both ways before crossing the street, all right?

We will be bringing the game back, no matter what. Hence us bringing in progress reports if we go on hiatus and plotting memes and such. The only reason we're considering hiatus is it being a hiatus and not a close to the game. At most the hiatus would be a month, maybe two, since all that's left at this point is the graphical content and layouts and the like. Since Kiwi was more productive and got most of the text done while I was looking for my apartment and prepping for the move last month.

I fear the game not coming back from hiatus. D: I mean, if your text is basically done I'm happy with placeholder graphics and the current layouts.
