Feel the rain of an English summer, hear the words of a distant song

There’s lots happening at the moment and I’m feeling utterly exhausted. As I’ve probably mentioned once or twice already, after almost two years back in the parental nest, I’m finally moving up to the northwest of London this coming weekend. About half of my belongings have already been carried there by rucksack, over many train and bus journeys, ( Read more... )

writing, moving

There's a fatuous thing critics ALL do, which is look at your work deperately trying to discern similarity to someone else they're very familiar with. In the case of my ink works, its bloody Bosch.
WHY? WHY DO THEY DO IT?!?

I can understand it to a point, because they're probably trying to put things in a context that Joe Public can be familiar with, but there's a fine line between that and just being plain lazy.

Bosch is cool, though. If only I had a time machine, I'd introduce him to HPL and they write do a horrible fucked-up graphic novel together!

Aha---we could assimilate that; I rate your stuff so you could use any bits of the Aftermath Series you think appropriate for illustrative purposes in future.

That would be cool! I don't think I've viewed all your Aftermath pieces but I definitely like what I have seen.

By the way, are you aware of this? I've entered some written/illustrative bits but it migth also be of interest to you.

Good luck with the move, having moved in myself just a couple of months back I do sympathise (but you get there in the end)

Thanks! It's fortunate that the flat's already habitable and quite a lot of my stuff is there already; the real pain is changing over my address on paper, but I've survived that enough times before.

And possibly having to buy new things from Ikea (howl!)

Absolutely there are worse things.

In one Siiiii review we were described as "slugs", "blatantly uneventful" and my vocals as "high pitched squeals from someone who shouldn’t have been given a microphone."

Heh!

Best of luck with moving via public transport. It's a bastard.

That's pretty mean. But yeah, reading reviews can be nerve-wracking and I've probably been quite fortunate so far.

"It's better to write for yourself and have no public, than to write for the public and have no self." I forget who said that now, but he/she was onto something. And the same with musical endeavours.

I remember moving into our own place two years ago.
It's incredibly stressful, back-breaking, and not on the cheap side but it'll be worth it. :)

It will indeed. I'm not shedding any tears over leaving Croydon!
