eBay / 1920s / Sweeney Todd

Things continue to be busy for me. I've still not resolved my latest eBay drama, although Paypal have allowed me to reopen the dispute and I think I have a strong case - Adobe's technical department looked at the serial number on the discs and confirmed he's sold me a forgery, so I don't see what sort of leg he possibly intends to stand on. Saw Sweeney Todd @ the Queensgate cinema in Wellington. They have a special auditorium where, for the princely sum of $30 (12 quid-ish), you get a HUGE seat with adjustable foot rests and flunkies will bring you popcorn and alcoholic drinks at any point in the performance. 'Twas great fun (and the movie wasn't bad either; although Depp seems to be channelling David Bowie rather than Keith Richards this time).

Wow, sounds liek some fancy theatres they've got around there. I went to one of Wood Green's lovely multiplexes where, if you turn up early, you might get a seat on the side of the auditorium which doesn't smell like wee.

Yeah, Depp was a bit Bowie-like, now you mention it. But in a good way. I found the blood a bit too paint-like to be convincing, but apparently they filmed it with bright orange blood on the set, then colour-desaturated everything afterwards to give it that washed-out, grim look.

It takes a while to put a dispute case to bed. Last year I claimed payment back for a broken laserdisc player that was posted with only brown paper to protect it. I did get the money back, but the whole process is very time consuming and not really user friendly for the buyer. Just don't let them try and brow-beat you.

P.S Happy new year!

Happy new year to you too dude!

Unfortunately, this is my second eBay purchase to have gone badly awry, so I've got some idea of what lies ahead... It's a lot of money though, so I'm not going to take this lying down.

New year's resolution: no more eBay purchases worth more than £50 for me. Ever!
