They were sitting in the living room of the Baker house and Nora was really wondering how in the world she had been able to find someone who was as understanding as Oliver was. Her brother and sisters had plotted against him, had drenched him in meat water and had set the dog on him. And instead of having a reaction like Hank had had, by running out of the house and swearing to never come back into a five mile radius, Oliver had handed her his trousers and borrowed a pair from Charlie.
As it was, Nora noticed that Charlie and Oliver had already bonded by some kind of strange man-bonding-thing. And as far as she could tell, her parents liked him just for the fact that her siblings weren’t able to chase him away.
They were now sitting on the sofa together and she resisted the urge to cuddle up onto him, because all her other siblings were present and her father had after all reminded her that she things should always stay g-rated around them.
She noticed that half of her younger siblings were still looking at him sceptically and with narrowed eyes. She imagined that Sarah looked like steam would come out of her ears anytime soon. But that was probably just because of the grounding all of them have gotten.
Lorraine who had been much more attentive after having seen Oliver in person was currently telling him all about how she was able to work herself up in the society ladder of her high school. The twins Jessica and Kim had already told him all about their science project and Henry had been ecstatic to give him a little sample of his clarinet practice.
But what fascinated Nora the most that Oliver had been just fine sitting there with her family and listening to them, taking everyone who listened to him serious. He was perfect with them. And if she hadn’t been already absolutely in love with him to begin with, she could have fallen in love with him all over again.
It was with that thought that she caught Oliver looking over at her. He was winking at her and smirking his trademark smirk. The same that he had used to lure her into his charms the first time they met.
God, how she loved that spoilt rich brat, thought Nora as she rolled her eyes at him and laughed as he made a false outraged face.
