Help!

I'm programming my senior recital for this fall, and I've got most of the music I want selected - except for the baroque/renaissance requirement. Any suggestions for songs written between 1450-1750 that would fit a baritone?

Funny you should post this because I've been spending most of my doing similar research.

There's a book I believe it's the Norton Music Anthology of Early Songs 1530-1750 (maybe) with selections in English, Italian, German, and French.

There's a book of early French songs from the fourteenth through eighteenth centuries.

I also discovered La varie musiche - a collection of songs by Jacopo Peri (who wrote the first opera, Euridice...or maybe it was Dafne...either way he wrote it!)

Handel always works very well for a baritone and can either be done in Italian or English. Purcell can also be very moving when done well and there is a lot of good repertoire for baritone that one can construct a nice set around. There is also a lot of Dowland and Arney.

I don't know about this for sure but there must be a German cantata for baritone by Bach.
