OSF, as we say at the work

um, so say hypothetically that a person is being sent to San Francisco next week on work, but that she (or he) will have at least a few hours to see the city. what might she (or he) want to do with her (or his) time, besides wander around and take a zillion pictures ( Read more... )

Possibilities:
Japanese Tea Garden
Chinatown

Just go to town and ride the trolleys. There's always Alcatraz. They have some pretty sweet music stores if you just want to stay in the squares and whatnot. There's a lot of cool stuff at Pier 39 if I remember correctly. The bridges. And, uh, I'll try to think of some more options!

accccccctually don't worry about it. :( turns out I have to leave for another office by San Jose during the day, so I probably won't have any time at all. grrrrr.

1. Golden Gate Park is really beautiful. I especially liked the Japanese Garden.

2. The Fisherman's Wharf is a bit tourist-trappy, but it's always busy and there are lots of distractions there.

3. Some of the neighborhood areas are pretty neat: Haight-Ashbury and Lombard Street are popular. And Twin Peaks has great views of the city.

I highly recommend taking a cable car down the hill to Powell & Market - amazing. Have fun! I'm sure it wll be no problem, SF is a great city.

turns out I'll have to leave SF for another office after only a few hours (nobody mentioned that 'til just now), so no touristing this time. but I'll go back one way or another (either 'cause of work or not), so I'll keep stuff in mind. :)

(and eee your icon is the knitted crocodile! yay!)

If you can stop by The Hotel Triton, you should. It's right near Chinatown. The hotel is art deco, and Andy Warhol used to stay there. One whole floor has all sorts of pictures of him and art. Then you can go a block down the street to Chinatown.

How about I just share my pictures with you when I get back? I'm not as kickass at photography as you are, but I'm pretty okay.

I know that there's a huge farmer's market that I'll be going to. I'm also spending a day drooling my way through North Beach and Chinatown. Golden Gate and Sausalito are on my lists as well.

There'll be massive sharage, I'm sure. I have 2 512MB memory cards for my camera and the whimpy 16mb that came with it. I should have enough to get through a day! ;)

haha, I know that one. I can fill up a 2GB card at a single show if I'm not careful.

*notices other comments* Well, the food at SFO itself isn't bad. :) The airport isn't near downtown SF, the way San Jose's airport is at least kind of near things one might see in San Jose, so perhaps it's just as well this time.
