Hey, you know what I'd forgotten? 2.5 miles really isn't that far to walk if it's not uphill (both ways, barefoot in eight inches of snow ;)). It's an hour on the dot door to door from home (Houston and Ave A) to work (45th and Broadway), and once the feeling came back into my legs (the coldest time of day is a half-hour after sunrise, dontcha ( Read more... )

... You know, sometimes I think Transit strikes purposefully happen when it's A: Very hot, or B: very cold. Like, long, long ago when the first union members were finally settling to agree on the contract (and renogotiate every x years), they could have done it in early fall - but they secretly whispered "No. Let us wait until it is cold, because then if contract renogotionations don't go well, they will truly suffer."

god, seriously. I'd heard at one point (no idea whether there's any truth to this) that when they finally *do* draw up a new contract, it'll end in like March, so that at least this won't happen during the holiday season again. then again March isn't much better than December, weatherwise. sigh.

naw, they're only predicting the strike will last 3-7 days ("only"!). they'll just have the contract be for however many years, plus a few months.

I guess you got some exercise... yeah...

If I was going to walk to Nassau County, I think I'd need to start walking around midnight tonight. Don't they know I have finals?! :/

I'm gonna have to waste 6 1/2 hours not doing my last paper, waiting for a ride, aren't I.

Lots of hate for the MTA right now.
