XD! I did a fair amount of beading when I was in elementary/middle school, but I was too little to get into anything fancier than making sculpey beads. Our third project is a silver or bronze ring of our own design - I'm psyched!
We're hoping the card is still returnable, but I dunno 'cause Jon bought it right after I got my iPod, and that was October. Firewire card is definitely an option, even though it's not as useful for other stuff.
Ooh, Padme dress! Once again we need to stop reading each other's minds. :oP I considered making that dress before deciding on the purple dress she wears in the first ep of Clone Wars (referenced on that page, actually!).
Databases are often not taught in college courses. I remember talking with a computer-industry friend of mine who was amazed that I knew SQL. If you know about databases, it's basically an indication that you had a project that required them. Either that or you're a total computer geek and will learn anything.
NYU actually does offer a few database courses, but apparently no one else in my class has taken them. MySQL has always seemed fairly straight-forward to me, so I'm always surprised when people don't know or are afraid of it. Then again, we have a handful of people who are coming into a web-oriented class not even knowing any HTML. Maybe I *am* that much of a nerd.
