This was such a tone-deaf decision, that it makes me cringe. Especially since she built her own, private nursery next to her office. Granted, she paid for that herself, but that little fact just throws rather stark relief on the lopsided compensation most CEO's make these days. What if, instead, she had donated a part of her salary to help the company provide a day care on site for all employees?

I know, I know. I've always been a bit of a dreamer.

It was tone deaf, I agree. But caring for an infant-5 year old and telecommuting don't go together well in any case, if that's what the Yahoo employees were doing. I see more of the sick kid issues, and snow day issues, and the week(s)-between-school-and-camp issues at my workplace. We have the added issue of kids not being ALLOWED in a laboratory setting by federal regulations and institutional rules. My kids have played on my computer in my office while I've set up an experiment on the weekend when their dad was unavailable...more than once, shall we say ( ... )
