So, in an effort to ignore revision and/or the imminent evil that is my exams, I've been rewatching some old Stargate SG1 episodes, cool person that I am. I have come to several conclusions:
♥ Despite the hate, Jonas is adorable.
♥ Jack is a lot darker than I remember him being.
♥ There is a lot of actor-swapping in American TV. So far, I've

THAT IS SO UNBELIEVABLY COOL. ♥♥♥ And yeah, I figured it's 'cause they're all shot in Vancouver, but still - the shows are notionally American? Idk. :D ♥

I always loved Jonas. He is adorable!
There's a lot of actor swapping in American sci fi shows because most of them are filmed in Vancouver. At least, that's why I think they use the same people.

Jonassssss! ♥♥ He was always so adorably awkward, and I loved the whole psychic storyline - but everyone hated him because he was Daniel's 'replacement'. Poor guy. And it always annoyed me that everyone just forgot about him after s7. I mean, he was with SG1 for a year, and he and Daniel seemed pretty pally in the few bits they had together. And then he just gets forgotten - and Kelowna just gets a passing mention as being taken by the Ori? REMEMBER YOUR CHARACTERS, GUYS.
... okay, I ranted. :D ♥♥♥

But I can't really complain because they brought in Ben as Cam and no matter how much I love Jack and the others, Cam is still my favorite. I ♥ him so hard! lol.
When did you stop watching? You gotta finish! Have you seen the two movies that aired after it ended?

CAM FTW. He was pretty awesome, true (and I remember something about him ending up stripped to his boxers, too), but I don't think he quite surpasses Jack, for me. :D
Um, midway through the Ori storyline? Maybe? I remember Morena Baccarin was there, being gorgeous and evil. Maybe mid s9? And no, I never saw the movies. Right: TVSHACK TIME. :D

Not counting graduation on the 27th I am free!!! It feels so surreal to be done with high school. I kept saying 'I can't believe its over' and subsequently annoying everyone. But, again, it feels so surreal.
I am planning on reading the Illiad this summer because you got me interested, especially after reading Illium and Olympos.
I also plan to read my to-read pile since now I will actually have time.
I also plan on buckling down and reading the Lord of the Rings books (and you can take the credit for getting me to read them as I only decided to try again after you expressed your love for them).
My interest in classics, despite my love of reading, has bloomed late. (Mainly b/c of the classics they forced us to read in school.)

If you mean classics as in Austen and whatnot, I've never been that hot on them - but Homer and Virgil? Yes please. :D ♥

Now that I'm genuinely interested, I will gladly take your suggestion and read the Odyssey.
As for the Lord of the Rings, I got as far as just after they left Bombadil. Yes, a read-a-thon sounds perfect/fun. I'll let you know when I'm starting.
I can't remember clearly because it was a while ago but I'm pretty sure I read The Hobbit in it's entirety or at least most of it.
Progress report:
1.) I'm on season 4 of the X-files.
2.) Have you heard of/watch Leverage?

There's not so much actor swapping through most of American TV, but the Sci-Fi circuit has a lot of it.
And... YAY STARGATE! Dude, if you were to write SG1 fanfic... *is hopeful*

In short, SG1 ftw. :DD ♥
My grasp of US TV is the sci-fi circuit, so I'm sticking to my definition. :D And I might write fic, idk. It would be Jonas!fic, which may cause some fans to come out in hives, I know... :D ♥♥

About Jack. I remember when I was watching it as a kid all I saw was fluff and humour, but now as I watch the reruns I'm noticing the darker and more interesting philosophical stuff too, especially in the last two seasons.
There is a lot of actor-swapping in sci-fi, yeah. :D Personally I love it. I squeed when I saw Michael Shanks on Andromeda and Andromeda's Lexa Doig on Stargate. :D
And you said you haven't watched the last seasons? I've ignored it for years, but then I saw few episodes and fell in love with the awesomeness that is Claudia Black (she plays Vala mal Doraan). I think you should watch it. Though Daniel acts like a douche in those last two seasons. And Mitchell is basically a copy of O'Neill with a dash of Sheppard thrown in.
Seriously, Stargate...It's the only fandom where I love and hate characters at the same time. I love SG1!Sam but I totally can't stand SGA!Sam. :D

Yeah, SG1 was basically my first fandom (before I knew of the existence of fandom, pretty much), and I remember Jack being all snarky and humourful - and now? Wow, he's bitter and actually really complex. Damn childhood brain.
Oh, I love the actor-swapping, too. :D I mean, when AD Skinner from The X-Files turned up in SG:A as Colonel Caldwell, I screamed. Oh, dear. :D And I never reached the end of Atlantis either - it was on a TV channel that we lost when we switched packages or something. IRRITATING.
I'm chalking up a list of TV to watch over the summer, and I think I'll be finishing off SG1, at least. I was quite getting into the Ori storyline, and Vala was ♥ (I loved her introduction, as a super soldier coming on to Daniel :D).
Stargate will always hold a special place in my heart, I think - but I know what you mean about the characters. Sometimes, they can be... frustrating. :D

SG1, Star Wars and the Dune were mine. I remember writing stories for the Dune, god it was awful. :D
Yeah, it's really interesting to read or watch things at different age and see how differently you take it.
Be glad, the fifth season of SGA was butchered. It had great ideas but they didn't care about the show enough to make something of it. And the McKay/Keller romance? Ffuuu. And I love Jewell Staite so much ever since I saw her in Higher ground.
You remember the athosian Halling guy from SGA? He later on played Alastair on SPN. I was totally squeeing. :D
Yes, Vala is totally awesome. Have you seen Farscape (Ben Browder who plays Mitchell stars there too)? Claudia Black is totally awesome.
It's the writers, they wrote them pretty inconsistently. And especially SGA writers, they couldn't write a good female character to save their lives. :D
