On Obedience, Submission, etc.

Lately, this has been on my mind rather a lot. I've been thinking about writing something and submitting it to TBAT for Slacktiverse, something about how the focus on obedience and submission... basically fucks people up, probably with an emphasis on women-- the only initial reservation being that, although I read every post there, I comment once

I'm trying to think of something clever to say in response to this but I can't, mainly because it's so bloody familiar and all of it just rings so painfully true. I was raised in an incredibly fundamentalist household--my dad's a pastor--and attended a conservative private Christian school up until fifth grade, and it literally took me until my senior year of high school before I started to realize that most of my life had been...not a lie, but I'd been living it wrong the entire time

I hope that you're able to stay strong, then, and stay yourself and true, whether in rebellion or not; 'coming out' in politics is wicked hard, and you have my sympathies. Take care, dude. <3
