Some of you may be aware, there's an election happening in my country on Tuesday.

I've already cast my vote, so my part in this drama is over.  Now all that's left is the waiting, the watching, the worrying.

I am violently afraid that Romney will win.  Like, I nearly went into a panic thinking about it this afternoon in the parking lot at Target.  I ( Read more... )

i have experienced a minor version of what you are going through - to the point of having good friends who are now conservative party elected members of parliament. DDD: it distresses me so very much.

the stakes seem so very high for you election this year. *sigh* :(((

They've been marketing this election as 'a clear choice' between two ideologically different Americas, so I think it feels like if your candidate doesn't win, you don't get the America you want. Plus Mitt Romney is just such a tool...

What scares me is the AMOUNT of people I talk to that like him. WTF. I think it's more people that don't want Obama re-elected moreso than truly loving Romney but in a dual party system that's how it works.

I figure tomorrow I'll be very happy or very sad.

Yes, I think a large number of Republicans have Stockholmed themselves into liking him because he's their only option.

I have cast my vote already as well, the county I live in is all mail-in ballots.

I have tried to keep my panic attacks minimum and have only been able to do so by not watching or checking the news for the last few days. I have this horrible, quaking fear Romney might win and I just can't handle the worry. Any forward progress we've made in this country as far as, well, pretty much anything will go out the window if he gets voted in. It amazes me every day how many people think he's the answer to problems that aren't even the current administration's fault due to the senators and representatives that are in office and the thinking of the people themselves.

Listening to people talk about the race, though, has opened my eyes, at least when it comes to the people around me, and has made me realize just how much harder we need to work to make sure EVERYONE gets a fair chance at simply being a human being living in America ( ... )

It's good to know I'm not alone :D

Fingers crossed that we're worrying for nothing, and Obama will pull it out tomorrow night.
