I bought my first laptop in 1998, and using the free CD from Best Buy, I signed on to AOL and began my first foray into the wild and woolly place that was the World Wide Web.

i find the whole thing to be pretty terrifying in some ways.

i try and keep my email/username/password clusters very separate. but i have already been found once by someone i know. luckily it was an ok person to find it, but as my kids get older and their friends are net-savvy i get even more nervous.

/is no help at all...

I think part of what I find disturbing about it is that I truly didn't understand that it was a shift in the structure of the internet. I'm still pondering the whole deal.
