So the repair to my car which I knew was going to cost $375 is now going to cost twice that, because not one but two sensors have gone out. Whose bright idea was it to computerize cars? My '63 Falcon had, like, three parts under the engine and she's still going strong.

well that sucks

You are preaching to the choir here. I just bought 4 new tires for my car, alignment & new front brakes, almost $1000 total. It was due for all that stuff, but every time I have to fix something I seem to remember when everything was a lot cheaper. I think that's a symptom of middle age. *sigh*

I've had to do new front and rear brakes plus a new battery this year, and those I hated but could take. This is almost a grand for two sensors that measure oxygen levels in my gas tank. There are four sensors in there - two of the four still work. Unfortunately, the two that don't work make my check engine light be on and check engine light on equals not passing the emissions test that I have to have to renew may tags. *sighsighsigh* Cars should just work for 100,000 miles without needing anything and then die predictably.
