Thanks, C - I've corrected the PIH link! (I really need a D'oh! icon)

It's such a horrible situation!

Something to keep in mind once the first response needs have been met is how to help Haiti rebuild. Heifer International already has/had many projects in place and is collecting funds to rebuild those projects and launch more once the situation stabilizes.

Great point, A. There will be multiple and many year phases to this recovery. I love Heifer International - such a great group. Thanks for posting the link.

Thanks so much for pulling together these links. Flipping back and forth between various stations' coverage last night, it got to the point where it was almost funny (almost) how many times someone would say, "Of course, [this essential service] was practically non-existent in Haiti anyway before the hurricanes and earthquake." A terribly sad situation.

Am curious to know if Save the Children (http://www.savethechildren.org/newsroom/2010/haiti-relief.html) meets your standards; The Mothership has made a big donation. They are also recommending MercyCorps (http://www.mercycorps.org) and Direct Relief International (http://www.directrelief.org) in addition to organizations on your list.

STC would definitely be a good one to add, as would Mercy Corps. I'm not familiar with Direct Relief International, but that doesn't mean it's not a great group.

I'm reasonably certain that STC have been operating in Haiti for quite some time, so will have good local relations on which to build.

Thanks for the great additions!
