Names (yet again)

I have been pondering names for the new boxer puppy recently. I don't want to actually PICK anything until I get a better feel for her personality... but I wanna have some ideas so she doesn't go nameless for a month like Gracie did ( Read more... )

First off, I must say that boxers are the coolest dogs ever (I have two):)
Of the list of names you have here I think Esme would be really pretty for a female boxer.

I agree that boxers are the coolest dogs ever. I lost my Rocky this past October to brain cancer :(

I do admit that the idea of naming a critter after a Twilight character makes me feel a bit... odd.

Wow, someone's been reading GRRM. 'Course, my dog is named Caitlyn, and yes, that's why.

Glad you have a shortening for Daenerys, as I tried to name Caitlyn Morgana and that just didn't stick.

Naamah just doesn't strike me as a good name for a dog, though...

Not recently, but he is most certainly in my top 5 favorite authors of all time.

I pondered Caitlyn too. But it is far too much like Kaylee (Firefly) and the people that took the psycho chocolate lab rescue off my hands renamed her Kaylee.

Nimue is from Arthurian legend. If I remember correctly she was the predecessor of the lady of the lake after Vivienne - at least in some versions of the legend. It was also the server that I played on for Dark Age of Camelot.

Oh! And I am avoiding the name Sorcha. It would have been perfect for an orange tabby - but I don't think we need the 'fire' reference around the house. I would hate to tempt fate too much.

Heh. I <3 the series. He is an awesome author. I knew there was a reason we get along so well. Dany's story is my favorite story line. It made me sad not to have her in the last book :( BUT! The next one should be AWESOME!

He's working on it - his last LJ post was about it. He KNOWS everyone is frustrated about it not being done - in fact, most of the journals he talks about Dance of Dragons, he disables comments and has had a fit a couple times about people bitching about the fact that it's not finished.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the next segment will be done by the end of this year.

Hmm I would vote against choosing a name that you can't explain to the kids like Naamah
.

Also .. you can look at it this way, Esme is also the name of one of the witches from Terry Pratchett.

Apropos only of some of the names but not the subject, have you been reading the kushiel's series, still? I stopped reading after the first 3 - the boy irritated me more than interested me.. And now they have a new girl?? wtf is this?

Imerial started out as a whiny self important little brat. His character develops quite well over time though.
