Can I ask where her name came from?

in my favorite comic strip, Jim's Journal, Jim's roommate gets a black cat. they name him mr. peterson. when they take him to get neutered, they find out he's a she. when i first got my mr. peterson, i was told she was a he but i didn't believe them cuz i know a vulva when i see one. even though the comic strip cat is a squiggle, i saw a resemblence. it's turned out to be the perfect name!
