I'm so sad about Pete Postlethwaite! He's been a favorite character actor of mine since he played George Merry in the little-known 1990 film of Treasure Island. And he was in some awesome films since then too...The Usual Suspects, Amistad, Romeo and Juliet, Inception. Sad, sad day. :(

I loved that little-known Treasure Island, by the way. I was a child when I first saw it, and I went crazy. Chieftains <3 <3 <3
But when I really "noticed" Postlethwaite was in "James and the Giant Peach", such lovely little movie, from a beautiful book. And then In the name of the father, obviously.

OMG really?!?! That's so awesome! You're like the only person I know who even remembers that Treasure Island movie! It never made sense to me that the film didn't go anywhere, either; it has SUCH an awesome cast. It was my favorite film as a boy; I still remember it very fondly now (and watch it probably once a year or so!). I'm so happy you loved it as well. :)

Not only I loved it, but I remember being absolutely mesmerized. I don't remember if I had read Tresure Island yet, probably not, but I'm sure I knew about the story and the movie shaped my mental image of the characters (CHARLTON HESTON!!!). Plus, I find action/adventure movies boring most of the time, because they're often "idealised" and just feel not real. But that movie takes its time to bring you into the story, and the "action" feels real (there's that scene where Charlton Heston kills a man with his naked hands, despite having one leg only...)
I'm sure I henceforth spent a lot more time staring at the sea XD And obviously I fell completely in love with the soundtrack, and consequently with the Chieftains and Irish music (you're into music, do you know them?).
