Cool, your father actually read Asoiaf?! My parents hate fantasy, so they would never read that, my brother however would maybe read it...

At a congress I once saw a guy who totally reminded me of Oberyn, I think I stared maybe a bit too much ;-p

My father has always been a fantasy/sci-fi fan, but I think he only read "classics" like LotR, Dune, Shannara... I gave him ASoIaF like I did with Harry Potter XD He enjoyed it, especially the "dwarf" which means Tyrion since he can't remember the name... but now he just wants ADwD. Last time I mentioned how excited I was about the HBO series he told me "He should write instead >:( "

Honestly...I pretty much forgot Doran as well. When I started westerosorting and people started mentioning him, I was like "...who?" for quite awhile. Though to be fair, if someone had just said "old geezer, plotting", I would have remembered him much sooner than I actually did. XD
