So I remembered the other day exactly why I never really saw myself making a career out of being an elementary teacher. Women here use parasols in the summer to protect themselves from the hot hot sun...it's strange because Korea seems to have all of these fine details that are either archaic or ultra modern. Very cool though! They seem to adapt things that are actually useful and work on perfecting them...they have amazing gps navigation systems in pretty much ( Read more... )

The place where I will be teaching is set in the country-side...about 20 minutes outside of Anseong, where I live. It will be interesting getting out there every morning, but thankfully the city buses here run frequently, even in the rural parts, so I think it will work out well ( Read more... )

So I'm here in South Korea. Everything went well on the flight, despite not having my own little movie watching thingy. But they did show an excellent movie called 17 Again with Zach Effron and Matthew Perry which I highly recommend...way funnier than I was expecting it to be and it had some awesome nerd humor in it! So yeah...been spending the ENTIRE day packing to go to Korea and all I have to say is I wish I had only so much stuff that I could easily fit ALL of it into 2 large suitcases, 1 carry-on and a day pack :/ And it wouldn't be such a big problem that I can't fit everything if I weren't so dang materialistic and into shoes and clothes, etc ( Read more... )

So I just purchased my plane ticket to South Korea for next Wednesday...the 19th...which is a whole week earlier than I expected them to need me but that's okay! But when I actually think about it I definitely need the next month to 1) Learn at least a little Korean 2) Move out of my apartment 3) Soak up lots of family time 4) Misc. travel arrangements and 5) PACK!
