Hi! I've had vitiligo since i was born (i'm 18 now) and it's full-body. when i was younger i was almost 80% non-pigmented but now i'd say im about 50%. Has anyone else experienced extreme re-pigmentation from the sun? I work outside all summer and have for five years but this past summer especially i noticed that i was getting my pigment back. Hello, I have had the same type of experience. I noticed in the summer when I was kyaking, my pigment color would return on my legs and in the winter, it would go away. Skin cancer is something to worry about but I have been doing NB-UVB treatment and its safer and it works. Narrowband (NB) is the safe sun rays. Ask the dermotology department at your medical location. Good luck to you and im glad your color started coming back because many would would have just given up and jumped into the depigmentation porcess.

I've had vitiligo for 26 years. When growing up, my dermatologist would talk about the dangers of skin cancer. Now, I'm finding information on-line, (not that the web is reliable), that points toward the opposite. Many websites say that the lack of melanin caused by vitiligo decreases the individual's chances of contracting malignant melanoma. I was just wondering what you thought about this, because I recently found out about this within this past week, and am still unsure as to its veracity.

I've had vitiligo since i was 1. I am 18 now also, the sun has been a tremendous factor in helping my color come back.
