Who came up with that, actually? I remember someone referring to him like that in a comment but...anyway. Because I did a whole Claude-centric post...and I'm in that kind of mood...I feel like doing one of all Peter, all the time. In deference to the fact that Claude is about 100x more awesome, he got an entire post with...several...pictures from

Moving on, thanks a lot for this, it's a really good insight into Peter that I think is going to be extremely helpful fic-wise. "He wasn't born nice but he tries to be nice"- yeah, I'm going to hold on to that one.
Oh, and thanks for reminding me that "Nothing to Hide" has Charles/Peter interaction. Charles is in my long fic and I need to get a handle on his characterization.
Can't wait to see what you have to say about the episodes with Peter and Claude!

That's what I was going for! I actually felt kind of good putting down the basis I have for most of my characterization of Peter. And it's good to go over the source material again, to see how much of how I write him is really from the show or from fanon.
I'd forgotten a bit about the Charles/Peter interaction and how...sweet it was. I really do like him a lot in the moment.
I can't wait either! I think I might watch one tonight. And takes notes.

Absolutely! Sometimes I worry that Peter becomes... well, something of a Claude delivery system for me, and his own characterization suffers for it. Sorry, dude, but it's kind of a "candle sitting next to a flashlight" situation.
Charles is yet another awesome character that got barely any attention in S1. *sigh*

It's tricky with Peter, because most of the time, we only get glimmers of actual personality beyond his "Save the world!" stuff. The most of his actual character (interests, intelligence, whatever) we kind of have to infer by what other characters tell us. Also, his apartment; we see books and newspapers and weird random brickabrack all over the place, which speaks to a lot more interesting a person than we actually ever see. Of course, his time with Claude gives us a little more of him being, you know, actually interesting on his own.
Along with Hana. Who I still wonder about and wish for. *sigh*

LOL!
Thanks for this - enjoyed your snarking and commentary a lot. And it's reminded me how patchy the writing was, but also that I still, mostly, didn't care (very few bits of wince-inducing dialogue, expositions aside), because the characters were so interesting and - mostly - sympathetic.

I was going to go with "Cap'n Tightpants", but really, who's going to believe Peter's got the authority to captain anyone?

Yeah, it certainly had its moments, the dialogue. But still. It's my show. I love it. No, really.
