Wally's World - One Step Forward, One Step Back

*Most* of the weekend was pretty good.  They continue to walk well together on the Y leash, and we passed two other dogs without too much aggression on my dogs' part.  The problem is (whether they're on a Y leash or separate leashes), if they want to go after another dog and can't, then they turn on _each other_.  But, we did fairly well - until ( Read more... )

Ivy is snippy and she'll go after LB and try to take his treats, toys and divert our affection. When she does that she gets in BIG trouble. No problems so far over their food bowls. They both eat out of raised dishes right next to each other...and they swap positions readily. Ivy loves ice cubes, LB has no interest in ice at all. We walked them together for the first time last night - Yoda and Ivy, LB and me. They did well for a first attempt. I can't imagine them on a Y lead...I make LB walk like a proper gentleman, Yoda lets Ivy roam and sniff.

Anyway, it sounds to me like, despite a few normal adjustments, Wally and Goldie are doing pretty good together...and the three of you are a team.

Now...the question is...who's the new housemate?

A gentleman in the SCA named Lugh - 49 years old, was living in Sierra Vista with a non-SCA GF for the past 2 years until a sudden, ugly breakup. Works at St. Mary's Hospital and also is a Certified Massage Therapist who used to have a studio practice in Bisbee. I had been considering renting out my front two bedrooms (which I've done before) for some extra mortgage money, and truthfully to perhaps have a male around to lift & tote some of the stuff that while I'm still physically capable of doing, I would prefer not to if someone else will ;-)

We talked about most of the potential problems before he moved it and everything sounded ok. We'll see how it goes once we're finally under the same roof for more than two nights at a time.

Do you remember a certain conversation we had at Pi? I think it's time for us to meet for lunch. I seem to be way behind in current events.

Cat food is pretty rich and it give my dogs noxious evil gas.

Part of the reason I want a puppy is because I think we would have lasting and painful problems with Pete adjusting to an older dog. He's okay with puppies, but anything his size or bigger gives him a complex.

I KNOW my cats would love me to take a Taser to the dogs about now. The cats have their own room, but you still have to enter it from the interior of the house and the dogs try EVERY time to push past me and munch-a-bunch-o-kitty.
