My father called me this weekend to tell me that my grandma had fallen and landed on her face in a dollar store parking lot. She came out of it with a concussion, a fractured wrist, and all of the bones around one of her eyes broken. Daddy also said that, in typical Etrulia fashion, my grandma was being stubborn and not eating while in hospital

I will light a candle for the best outcome...and one just for you.. I know the kind of mental and emotional war this kind of relationship with a family member is like, and that loving a person doesnt mean that you can get along with them

She sounds exactly like my father's mother. Exactly. What is it about elderly South Carolinian women? Likewise, I still loved her, even though I owe my charmingly rounded figure to her, as well as several other bad habits. She was a ruthless hypochondriac, so of course she was the last of my grandparents to pass on.

In any case, I do hope things turn out well. She does sound rather cantankerous, and they're generally tough to run down :)
