Stripped (1x02)

Air Date: 29 September 2009

Kalinda shows up within the first five minutes of this second episode, interrupting Alicia as she watches detailed coverage of the Scandal, courtesy of a link passed along by Cary. Kalinda asks if she’s ever watched the whole thing, almost pleasantly informing her when she says no that she’s the only one ( Read more... )

Regarding Kalinda's age: I know when the Kings wrote the pilot and were casting, they imagined a 25 year old. And I know in the pilot they were still kinda going with that ("I was twelve"), but I saw elsewhere (though of course I don't remember where) that they had officially changed Kalinda's age to "mid 30s". A retroactive correction. Archie is stunning, but not mid 20s, so I think they finally dropped that... (If I find a link to that info, I'll let you know).

Anyway, it's interesting you mention the clothes, as they were still working on solidifying K's look, too. Even to having her in jeans in the pilot, which I don't think has happened since.

It does seem that Kalinda's snark has less bite in it already with Alicia. And I like that Alicia doesn't take offense from Kalinda's blunt questions and comments, instinctively realizing she's not trying to be mean.

Without knowing the facts about each other, they knew who the other was and understood each other amazingly quickly ( ... )

That's a good point re Kalinda wanting Alicia to know as much as possible, especially since Alicia seems so reluctant to find out on her own - or rather, she's just waiting for a push. Kalinda's able and willing to give that push, of course, since another of her mottos might well be "knowledge is power".

I'll have to go hunt down that info about Kalinda's age. All of the major character's ages are specified in the pilot (at least the ages of those who appear), but only Kalinda's is explicitly stated. That has to make it really hard to change her age after the fact, but I'm glad they did: Like you said, she's stunning, but definitely in a mid-30s kind of way. Adding roughly a decade makes her more believable as a character with all her apparent knowledge and experience, and with regard to Alicia, Kalinda's new age also makes her attitude towards the older woman much less "rob the cradle" in reverse. (More on that attitude as the series progresses and we find out more about Kalinda.)

perhaps because she’s burning off some nervous energy or maybe she’s simply happy to see Alicia.

I think it’s a little bit early for that, but I’ll most definitely go with it  as I think that by now they’ve come to really like each other, working with each other and probably even drinking with each other. Who can resist Kalinda’s traditions?
“You know, the more you bond with these clients, the less helpful you are.”

Kalinda is nothing if not blunt. She’ll tell them as she sees them and Alicia (and us) love her for it! There are way too many people pussyfooting around issues, it’s refreshing, really!

WILL: Your stripper was hooking. DIANE: Why is she my stripper when she does something bad?
BEST scene of the episode! I love Will and Diane, almost as much as I love Alicia and Kalinda!

There, he confronts Alicia while Kalinda waits (and presumably listens)Let’s hope so! Alica can most certainly hold her own and then some with Childs. Kalinda can be proud and even more intrigued/drawn to Alicia: she’s certainly much stronger than ( ... )
