I asked, yesterday, why he freed me. He’s been doing these things for weeks, secretly so that his parents and the household don’t find out. Is it for the sake of his own independence, that he should be allowed to do as he will? Have I given up the normal drudge of the other slaves only to be kept as a pet by a boy my own age, until he tires of me?
