That's insane. The fact you're a regular customer should imply that you're not the type of person to do that on purpose. ... and if you were willing to pay it, it's just insane that he'd even consider taking you to court.
Considering how even his report was positive, it seems unlikely that the judge will be that harsh on you, and uh... I honestly... just can't imagine why someone would even bother with court when it's only 25 dollars. I mean there's "teaching people a lesson" and... whatever the hell that is, especially since I can't imagine how it can be seen as anything other than an accident, all factors considered.
Wow, oh my goodness. Is there any way you can speak to a GM or that guy's supervisor?
I would think that, circumstantially, you've got the odds in your favor. You were hardly trying to conceal your identity, you shop there regularly, and this was not a repeat-type situation. Moreover, I feel like that manager was shooting himself in the foot figuratively speaking. He wasn't out any cash (you were willing to pay, after all), and now he's shorting himself whatever future revenue he would have made from you and yours.
Oh, wow. That is insane. I can't believe that manager was such a jerk...if you shop there regularly, you're obviously not someone who would do something like that on purpose! And you were willing to pay up since it was an honest mistake, so I can't believe he'd drag you to court for such a little expense in the first place. I feel like he's just on some odd power trip or something, orz...those types of people are the worst, I swear! He'll lose out on more than $25 by taking you to court, so his mindset is illogical anyways. If the cop was that understanding to you, I think that's a really good sign about how the judge will be too. The odds are in your favor, definitely. ♥ I'm just sorry you have to go through that at all!
Oh my god, I'm so sorry to hear that. (And I'm really sorry I didn't respond - I was taking a nap and I left my AIM on by accident.) *hug* You'll be fine. I can't believe the manager was such an asshole, considering you were going to pay him $25 on the spot and it was an honest mistake.

And yeah, I'm okay now. ^_^ I e-mailed the public defender for my city, to see what happens next, so I guess we'll just go from there!
