Vir is still astounded that Iris apparently has had a religious experience in a Centauri temple, but on the subject of Li, he does not press. Instead, he focuses on her first question, which, for him, is a matter of some concern.
"A Centauri's life is defined by duty - at least, it should be. We're all duty-bound to protect everything we've sworn oaths to - our houses, our friends and allies, and even the Republic itself. For many Centauri, those obligations often conflict, but... it seems to me that a man who murders members of his own house for the sake of control is violating one of the most important duties of all." Vir drums his fingers on the table. "I'm not sure I'm explaining this right. I-I suppose what I'm trying to say is that things like love and friendship and family ties should be honored and protected as much as possible. That... that in an ideal world, people wouldn't be forced to choose between political status and personal obligation." Vir thinks of recent events and a

"Well... yes, there might be something," Vir says, his eyes lighting up with a sudden idea. "A few years ago, my younger cousin fell in love with a girl and ran away here to escape the marriage his parents had arranged. And back then, Londo did come up with something, eventually, though he was opposed to the idea at first. If there were some way to transfer responsibility for Kailin... a change of guardianship or something like that... you might be able to get past Kailin's father.
"But then again... Kailin might be too old for that kind of plan. My cousin was just barely past his age of Ascension."
Iris loked at him with a confusion. "Londo? Who is Londo?" She would do almost anything to make this work, if they could find a way to be married that would not hurt Kailin in any way with his people, that would make her feel so much better.
"Londo Mollari is the ambassador to this station and the Prime Minister. Second to the Regent, he's the most powerful man in the Republic. And... I am his attache and friend."
Then Vir returns Iris's confused look. "The Tyrees have never mentioned him to you?"
OOC: You're talking to fourth season Vir here, so bear that in mind. As far as he knows, Adira Tyree is dead.
ooc:eeep. To Iris she is alive. So don't tell her she dies. Being a goddess she'll b used to things flickering around
Iris shook her head, "Kaiiin just got home, he doesn't seem to talk about his family much, or the war, or his kind. But I don't talk much of my own. I think we are both a little worried that if we start doing so we will find more complications about the two of us being together."
OOC: Okay, Vir is assuming she's referring to more recent events and won't breathe a word. ;)
Vir nods thoughtfully. "That's often true even in traditional marriages. I-I was once engaged, but... um, the petition was officially withdrawn very recently. There were certain... well... differences that couldn't be resolved. Moral differences."
Something In Iris' manner changed and her face softened. Reaching up she brushed her hand over Vir's cheek and smiled sweetly at him. "I am sure you will have no troubles in finding someone to love you. You are a kind and sweet man, and I am sure you have many years left and will find that one person you cannot be without."
"I believe so," She nugged him softly with her shoulder, "I am sure there will be many who wish to dance with you at the wedding, when Kailin and I get married."
She frowned a little, "Really! And yet you have met Satine just that once because you were both ill." She played with her hair a little, "although I have only seen her at parties with him."

Again the sadness returns.
