Do you want a GPS kit that does little beyond pumping coordinates down a serial/USB line? Or one with an on-device display and more features?

Any GPS kit will do the first. Garmin's eTrex series is pretty decent for the second. Not sure if you'll get a decent price for them in India though.

So you are reading this :)

For starters, I am looking for the first (being able to read coordinates over a serial/USB link).

What GPS kits are available in India? Any sources? Web searches are coming up short on this. A cheap one, which can do USB will be ideal. Plan is to use it with a laptop / PDA.

Serial over Bluetooth would be awesome, as then I can possibly use my Nokia 6600 as a platform...

You're in Mumbai right? You should talk to J. Terence D'Souza (aka JTD). He's a hardware hacker and is involved with Mumbai Freemap. jtd at mtnl dot net dot in.
