Some people

don't seem to really want to be your friend...never make comments to your posts...never respond to any comments you make to their posts...act like you don't exist...why is it that you keep them...are the numbers really that important?

I have a few friends who never respond to my posts, but when I happen to bump into them at a social event they ask me about something I posted so I know they read them. My posts are pretty boring so I don't blame people for not responding. I don't respond to memes.

i don't think your posts are boring ... they're the only way i can keep up with what's happening with you ... i esp. love it when you post piccies of your adventures.

Hell LJ keeps us both more in touch. Nobody would have told me that things didn't work out in Atlanta and now you are in NC if not for LJ. Nobody tells me anything and my best friends are all silent, mind your own business types. I like to keep up but not gossip and LJ allows that because it means I can get news first hand instead of through the grapevine. I am sure that is the way it is with most of your friends.

Everything you say is true. I wish we had been able to spend more time with you and Barb when we were in Denver. Maybe oneday you will come adventuring closer to this neck of the woods.

After a while, I delete the people who don't reply to my comments.

Delete 'em! It actually creeps me out to have people on my list who aren't real friends, whether it's in real life or via our interaction on the internet.

I've felt this many times before, I can understand not having anything to say to what I post but if I comment in someone's journal it's nice if they at least respond back if it's just a :D giggle.

I came to learn that you know it really doesn't matter, this is your journal. But I do understand that sometimes it's hard to detach from the expectation of responses that's the problem with putting it on here it's really not for us it's for opinions and interactions. Let those two things go and you will be a happier LJ'er :D

Hugs.

Hmm... I didn't realize that others might want a response when they respond to me even one as simple as :D.

Thanks for sharing! Maybe now I will be a more polite LJ user.

I think it's just one of those things where people want to feel validated. A lot of people want attention and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, to some degrees it's healthy or so I pretend for myself :D

In regards to being a "more polite" LJ user. I say do what you feel because not everyone wants little comments, I know some people get annoyed because I try to leave some sort of comment. So I started just commenting if there was something I had to say instead of some small thing just to show I did read it. :D

i pretty much generally feel as if i have nothing to say worthwhile but it's a good way to keep up with people's lives.

i think we often feel that way about our selves ... as if we are not important/newsworthy ourselves.
