As you may know I made contact with an uncle a while ago, he's asked to be remembered to my sister and her family. My sister is unsure if she wants to make contact herself but she's sent him some pictures of her son through me. I understand this somewhat, she doesn't want to get hurt again. When I asked her if I could send him her picture she shot

i wish i understood better my sister's feelings on this...why she feels any kind of loyalty to our mother.

I contacted my uncle because I'd finally reached the point where I knew giving up on my parents had finally happened and I needed some sort of adult figure in my life. My inlaws are as fucked as my parents.

My sister will in time ruin this feeling of having found a family again because she will be unable to keep her mouth shut about it.

I say ignore her the best you can and move forward with the family contact you've chosen. If it's right for you, it's right -- period.

She'll just guilt me with my nephew...my mother has lived in this giant web of denial ever since my dad left. She's conveniently forgotten all of the mistreatment that I hate her for.

I know people find my solitary life weird, but my husband is really the only person I can live with. :)
