Wow. I'm so glad that you were able to escape from that environment. I'm just sorry that you had to be there for so long.

Except I didn't escape. I'm still there. Or "there" is still here, wrapped around me like a moth-eaten, musty wool coat.

On the one hand, I feel terrible for your being in that position. On the other hand, I can't help admiring your talent for beautiful phrasing.
