Hell, yes. At least, if the weddings I've been in are anything to go by.

Oooooh. Thanks for giving me another moment of that special "We're Not Planning A Wedding This Summer" feeling. My husband and I still like to gaze soulfully into each others' eyes and remind ourselves of that crucial fact.

P.S.: Since we were both only children and elopement would just have gotten us stuck holding another wedding, our strategy was to allow as little time as possible between the engagement and the wedding so as to minimize the opportunities for people to worry about stupid things. It worked pretty well, actually. We had six months; if we'd secured the venue and officiant earlier, we could've done three.

Planning a wedding should be fun -- only it never is. That never ceases to amaze me. I like your strategy, though. It's like a stealth!wedding.

Bah, weddings. People always start off saying, yeah, just a quiet ceremony and a small party afterwards, and then mothers other people get involved and suddenly there are 200 guests and everyone is at screaming point over whether the flowers are the right colour.
