Hmm. The best books I've read lately haven't really been lighthearted, Archangel aside. :) The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver was fantastic, and pretty much all of her fiction is fantastic, so you can't go wrong there. I also recommend Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, but you've probably read that already; Daughter of Fortune by Isabel Allende, which starts slow but gets quite a bit better; and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, by Mark Haddon.

Hope that helps!

I'm sorry to hear about your co-workers/friends leaving. Sometimes my co-workers are all that will drag me to my job. Also, what job are you applying for? I work at a library, and while I'm at the bottom of the heirarchy, I've been there long enough to know the various jobs. :)

I just finished reading Stardust by Neil Gaiman, and was thinking about Good Omens next. I've never read any Barbara Kingsolver, although I've heard she's an excellent writer.

I'm applying for a page job. The description says it's pretty much pushing a cart of books around and doing whatever everyone else tells to do, but it's a county job and health insurance would be nice. I did a semester at my high school's library years ago, and it was fun.

Good Omens is made of so much awesome that I'm amazed the universe contains it all. :D

Really? That's basically my job now, except my county is cheap and sucks, so I'm only allowed to work 19.5 hours a week--any longer and they would have to give me benefits, like health insurance. I want to live in your county. *pouts*

Anyway, if they give you benefits, I really hope you get it. It's an easy job and if you get benefits too then it would be fantastic.

That's what I keep hearing! I think it will definitely be my next read. ^^

The posting is for only 20 hours a week, and my county's pretty cheap, too, so that will probably be the case for me, too. But I'm clinging to the fact that at least it's a foot in the door and I'll get insurance eventually if I climb the ladder enough. *headdesk* Just the potential for insurance makes me happy, I am such a dork.

Yay! Busy is wonderful. Well, sometimes.

I've been okay. I really will be getting a roommate in September, since the last one sort of bailed on me. :) Things are getting under control, at least. I'm glad to hear you're doing okay!

Found your link from fanfiction. Yay! some suggestions:
Megan Turner's Attolia series (The Thief, The Queen of Attolia, The King of Attolia & A Conspiracy of Kings), The Gurnsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society and Garden Spells (Sarah Allen), to name a few.
